Meet Our Research Team

Abdul Halim (a Ph.D. candidate)

Has worked with many civil society groups that focus on advocating environmental rights, small-scale fishermen’s rights, and human rights in fisheries. With more than twenty years of expertise in this field, I have led a number of civil society groups at the local and regional levels. As a recognition of his leadership, the Civil Society Forum for Climate Justice and the Indonesian government have chosen him as one of the official delegations, among others, at the UNFCCC climate change conference in Copenhagen, Denmark, in December 2009, and the fisheries conference organized by the FAO in Bergen, Norway, in February 2014. In addition to that experience, his writings have been published in popular media and academic forms, mostly on issues of his attention.

Dr. Shohib Muslim, SH, M. Hum., M.M. C.C.D.,

Lecturer at State Polytechnic of Malang and a Doctor of Law who completed studies at Brawijaya University, Malang and focuses on business and environmental law. He has written many publications, both books and international journals. Recently, he actively contributed to the People’s Representative Council of the Republic of Indonesia in connection with the initiative to amend Maritime Law No. 32 of 2014.

Tri Laela Wulandari, S.Pi., M. Si

Since 2022, Tri Laela Wulandari, S.Pi., M. Si. has been lecturing fishery at Khairun University’s Faculty of Fisheries and Marine (FPK) in Ternate, Indonesia. In addition to teaching, she has also been actively engaged in research in the field of marine and fisheries, including economic analysis of tuna fisheries in Morotai Island, North Maluku (2022) funded by CSF Indonesia; mapping the potential of village-based fisheries in Morotai Island, North Maluku Province: a collaboration with the Regional Development Planning Agency (BAPPEDA) of North Maluku (2023); and spatial management study of yellowfin tuna fishing grounds in WPP-715, North Maluku Province: a collaboration with the Regional Research and Development Agency (BALITBANGDA) of North Maluku (2023). The results of her research have been published since 2021–2024. She has graduated from IPB University in Fisheries Resource Utilization (Bachelor degree, 2017) and Marine Fisheries Technology (Master degree, 2021).
